Configure Grafana

Grafana is a component of "control center" module in StreamNative Platform. It provides observability for StreamNative Platform.

StreamNative Platform provides dashboards including brokers, bookies, zookeeper, proxy, topic, and messages.

You can configure Grafana on StreamNative Platform with an individual component config file. By default, the configuration file is located in ${PLATFORM_HOME}/share/sn-grafana/pulsar/grafana.ini.

To use them quickly, you need to set PULSAR_PROMETHEUS_URL and PULSAR_CLUSTER configurations.

By default, the sn-grafana account and password are as follows:

Account: pulsar
Password: pulsar

If you want to change username and password, please modify admin_user and admin_password in the ${PLATFORM_HOME}/share/sn-grafana/pulsar/grafana.ini file.

Follow the steps below to configure Grafana on StreamNative Platform.

  1. Configure Prometheus URL of Grafana.

    When you have a Pulsar standalone and a Prometheus server connecting to the Pulsar standalone, you can start with the Grafana Dashboard.

    • MacOS

      $ export PULSAR_PROMETHEUS_URL=http://$(ifconfig | grep "inet " | grep -v 127.0.0.1 | awk '{ print $2 }'):9090
    • Ubuntu

      Set PULSAR_PROMETHEUS_URL in this way.

      $ export PULSAR_PROMETHEUS_URL=http://$(ifconfig | grep "inet " | grep -v 127.0.0.1 | awk '{ print $2 }' | awk -F ':' '{ print $2 }' | awk 'NR==2'):9090

    Note

    If fails to start Grafana, you can set the IP manually.

  2. Configure Pulsar cluster of Grafana.

    $ export PULSAR_CLUSTER=standalone
  3. Start Grafana server.

    $ bin/sn-grafana-server

    After starting Grafana successfully:
