We are excited to announce the general availability of Ursa For Kafka on StreamNative Cloud for BYOC and Dedicated deployments. Ursa For Kafka is also available in Private Preview on Serverless, extending the service across three deployment options.

Ursa For Kafka brings together a native Kafka service, the Ursa engine, and integrated capabilities for connecting systems and querying live data. Teams can build Kafka applications while using StreamNative Cloud to move events between systems and turn those events into continuously updated insights.

Native Kafka, powered by Ursa

Ursa For Kafka is a native Kafka service integrated with Ursa, StreamNative's lakehouse-native streaming engine. It brings Kafka's familiar APIs and ecosystem together with Ursa's storage architecture, connecting event streaming with lakehouse workloads.

For developers, this means working with familiar Kafka clients and tools. For platform teams, it provides a managed Kafka service within StreamNative Cloud, with deployment choices that fit different infrastructure requirements.

This foundation makes Kafka data useful across event-driven applications, analytics, and AI workloads---from consuming live events to making streaming data available in open lakehouse formats. A key differentiator of Ursa for Kafka (UFK) is the ability to choose the storage type for each topic, giving teams the flexibility to align storage with each workload's needs.

Three deployment options

Ursa For Kafka is available across StreamNative Cloud's BYOC, Dedicated, and Serverless offerings.

With GA on BYOC and Dedicated, customers can adopt Ursa For Kafka for production workloads using the deployment model that fits their organization. Serverless remains in Private Preview for evaluation and feedback.

Certified with 15+ Kafka ISVs

Kafka's value extends beyond the streaming service itself. Teams depend on an ecosystem of tools for processing events, analyzing data, managing applications, and validating pipelines.

Ursa For Kafka is certified with more than 15 independent software vendors (ISVs) in the Kafka ecosystem. These integrations span lakehouse and data platforms, real-time analytics and stream processing, operational applications, developer tooling, and testing.

The ecosystem includes partners such as StarTree, Ververica, RisingWave, Lenses, Factor House, and ShadowTraffic. Together, these partners help customers connect StreamNative's Kafka service to the platforms and tools they use to build and operate real-time applications.

Native Kafka Connect support in StreamNative Cloud

StreamNative's Kafka service natively supports Kafka Connect in StreamNative Cloud, bringing connector-based data integration into the managed platform experience.

Through StreamNative's Universal Connect capability, teams can configure and deploy Kafka Connect source and sink connectors to bring data into Kafka topics and deliver events to downstream systems.

This gives developers a familiar way to connect business systems, databases, and applications, while platform teams manage connectivity alongside their Kafka service in StreamNative Cloud.

Query live Kafka data with SQL Workspace

StreamNative's Kafka service is natively integrated with SQL Workspace, enabling users to query live Kafka data with SQL and build continuously updated materialized views.

Powered by RisingWave, SQL Workspace lets users:

  • Explore live data: Query Kafka topics as sources using familiar SQL.
  • Transform event streams: Filter, join, and aggregate incoming data.
  • Build materialized views: Maintain query results that update as new events arrive.
  • Serve current insights: Make queryable results available to applications, BI tools, and AI agents through a PostgreSQL-compatible interface.

For example, a security team could combine login events, device signals, and identity changes into a materialized view of account risk. As new events arrive, the view updates, giving analysts and applications current context for investigation and response.

SQL Workspace is currently in Private Preview. Its native integration brings streaming SQL into the StreamNative Cloud experience, alongside the Kafka service and its connectivity capabilities.
