Session Overview

Building things from nothing is fun. Doing the same with the expectation that the outcome should be future-proof, cost-effective, and ambitious is an engineering dream. Toss in a small team and ask to build like we are already a large company (planning for scale, maintenance, etc), and you have an exciting engineering challenge. During my tenure, we went from nothing to a fairly sophisticated Data Infrastructure and even built an in-house queuing system to solve head-of-line blocking issues. And the best part, it was streaming first. During the session, I will cover our path and the decisions we made along the way. I will talk briefly about major learning, wins, and failures. You will learn that many things are possible if you have a small but adventurous team that is not afraid to take bets.
